Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government increased petroleum prices on Sunday for the next fortnight.

The decision to increase the price of petrol and diesel by Rs5 and Rs7.32, respectively, was taken on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Following the increase, the new price of petrol will be Rs258.17 per litre and that of diesel will be Rs275.70 per litre.

In a notification issued in this regard, the petroleum division said that the revised prices will come into effect from February 16 (Monday) and remain applicable for the upcoming fortnight.

It should be noted that in the previous review, the federal government raised the price of high-speed diesel by Rs11.30 per litre while keeping petrol prices unchanged for 15 days.
