Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, is gearing up for a major expansion in the new-energy vehicle (NEV) segment. According to industry sources, the company will launch four new vehicles in 2026, including two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) SUVs and two updated versions of its SU7 sedan.
It is expected that the models will hit the markets in two phases. In the early part of 2026, Xiaomi will introduce a revised SU7 sedan and a large 7-seater EREV SUV.
Toward the end of 2026, Xiaomi aims to introduce its executive SU7 model and a smaller 5-seater EREV SUV.
In the limelight is the 7-seater SUV with the internal code name “Kunlun”. Test mule images captured during testing in Xinjiang, China, have surfaced.
With the aim of competing with the high-end market offerings such as the Li Auto L9, the new SUV named the Kunlun SUV could feature an onboard battery capacity above 70 kWh that would provide the vehicle with an expected range of 400-500 km on pure electric mode.
Xiaomi is also working on the executive variant of the SU7 for those customers who prioritise comfort in the rear seat. The sedan model has an extended wheelbase and provides increased legroom and luxury features.
One such innovation being employed by Xiaomi is Ereving. Since the year 2023, Xiaomi has been investing extensively in a team dedicated to Ereving.
To date, there are in excess of 20 Ereving-related jobs advertised on the company’s recruitment website.
Experts in the industry expect highly competitive conditions in the large battery hybrid and EREW SUV sales in 2026. Companies such as XPeng and others are also working on EREW models.
