OpenAI is reportedly working on a series of AI-powered devices, including smart glasses, a lamp, and smart speakers for which the company has set a team of over 200 employees dedicated to the project.

The first product — smart speaker — is expected to be priced at $200 (approx Rs55,770) and $300 (approx Rs83,655), the report said, citing two people with knowledge of it.

The AI-powered smart speaker would include a camera, allowing it to better absorb information about its users and surroundings.

OpenAI-powered speaker's camera will support a facial recognition feature similar to Apple's Face ID, allowing users to verify purchases.

Meanwhile, the smart glasses likely would not be ready for mass production until 2028, the report said. However, for a smart lamp, OpenAI has reportedly made a prototype, while the launch date has not yet revealed.

In the competitor line, Meta has seen strong success with its Ray-Ban smart glasses, letting users record and take pictures, and stream content through tiny cameras.

The ChatGPT owner has yet to officially reveal all the details regarding the development of AI-powered devices, including a smart speaker, a smart lamp, and smart glasses.
