The federal government has announced updated eligibility criteria for the Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme, in which deserving students are selected to get laptops that help them in their education and income-generating opportunities.
According to officials, these changes are designed to help facilitate more students from the scheme and to make the process transparent and merit-based.
PM Youth Laptop Scheme eligibility criteria
Here's the eligibility criteria for the PM Youth Laptop Scheme:
- Applicants are required to be regularly enrolled in a public or HEC-recognised university or college.
- PM Youth Laptop Scheme is now open to students enrolled in BS, Master’s, MPhil, and PhD programs.
- Selection will be based on academic performance, verified domicile, and other defined criteria.
- Officials said the reforms aim to ensure transparency, fairness, and broader access to digital resources.
Here's how you can apply for PM Youth Laptop Scheme
- Students need to complete registration at their respective university or college.
- Then, submit the application through the official scheme website (laptop.pmyp.gov.pk).
- Students are required to give their accurate information, including academic records and identification documents, as if the information turns wrong, then the focal person of the university has power to cancel the application.
- Once everything is done, students need to wait for the official merit list — issued by government — after which laptops will be distributed to selected candidates.
