Finding shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be a little easier this time, due to the return of a fan-favourite feature from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

According to a new leak shared by CentroLeaks, a reliable source within the Pokémon community, the Shiny Sound will return in the upcoming game, informing players with a distinct chime whenever a shiny Pokémon appears nearby.

 Pokémon Legends: Z-A new rumours

One of the best additions to Pokémon Legends: Arceus was the Shiny Sound, a short sequence of digital tones that alerted players when a shiny Pokémon was nearby.

This auditory cue was particularly useful in the Legends series' action-orientated gameplay style, where Pokémon are free to roam in the overworld and battles take place in real time rather than turn-based.

Without the Shiny Sound, there were occasions when players did not realise a Pokémon was a shiny until it was caught or accidentally fainted. Bringing back the Shiny Sound lets shiny hunters respond quickly, use caution while approaching shiny Pokémon, and not wind up accidentally fainting the shiny before capturing.

Beyond the sound notification, it is also claimed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will provide different thumbnail icons for shiny Pokémon within the player’s storage boxes. It might be a small improvement, but it will certainly expedite recognising shiny forms at a glance, a feature fans have been requesting for years.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious entries in the franchise's history. After being revealed in the Pokémon Presents show in February 2024, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set in a reimagined Lumiose City and focuses significantly on Mega Evolutions; new forms such as Mega Feraligatr have already been revealed.

While Nintendo and Game Freak have slowly released official teasers and previews of the gameplay, the leaker community has been very active too, leaking multiple details about new mechanics, returning Pokémon, and hints to the story.

However, players trying to avoid spoilers should be careful, as reports show early copies of Pokémon Legends: Z-A are already out in the wild ahead of its release on October 16 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
