OpenAI is reportedly planning to launch its AI video generator 'Sora' in ChatGPT, The Information reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

As per OpenAI, 'Sora' AI video generator competes with text-to-video tools from Meta and Alphabet's Google. While text-centric AI models have been adopted at home and at work, those specialised in generating videos and pictures represent the next frontier in the technology's potential for disruption.

How to use Sora?

Image creation is available on sora.com (not in the iOS app at launch).

  • Go to sora.com → Create → Image.
  • Choose:
  • Describe your scene in the prompt window.
  • Upload a still image as inspiration by selecting the image icon.
  • Pick a Style if you like and write a clear prompt.
  • Generate and Download. Images can be used later as inputs for Image-to-Video (subject to people/likeness rules).

Some prompting tips for Sora

  1. Be specific, then iterate.
  2. Describe timing.
  3. Anchor realism.
  4. Limit moving parts.
  5. Use Remix for branches.

Earlier in September 2025, OpenAI launched Sora as a standalone app, which let users create and share AI videos that can be spun from copyrighted content and shared to social media-like streams.

It is important to note that OpenAI has yet to officially reveal details of the Sora's integration in the ChatGPT update.
