Hours before the deadline ends, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday clarified that the last date for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2025 will not be extended beyond Sept 30.

The revenue regulatory body stated that the deadline for submitting income tax returns will end at midnight tonight.

It was also learned that taxpayers can file their returns using the newly introduced simplified income tax return form.

Those who do not file their returns by the deadline will be considered late filers, and as per the law, penalties will be imposed on such individuals for failing to file their returns in a timely manner.

Urging all eligible taxpayers to submit their income tax returns before midnight tonight, the FBR announced that taxpayers can leverage a fifteen-day extension to file their returns by paying the due tax.
