WhatsApp is reportedly working on new features for its users, as in a new move of advancement, the platform plans to allow users to add their Facebook profile links directly soon.
According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker, the new feature is currently under development and was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.26.12, available on the Google Play Store.
How to link Facebook profile to WhatsApp?
- Open WhatsApp > Settings > Account > Linked Accounts (or similar section).
- Tap to add Facebook, authenticate via Accounts Centre, and confirm the link.
- Your Facebook handle and icon will appear on your WhatsApp profile; toggle off anytime for privacy.
- No linking required—skip the prompt to maintain separation.
However, users who do not want to display their Facebook profile can simply skip the feature. For those who select to link it, there will also be an option to verify their account through the Accounts Centre.
Verified accounts will show an official Facebook icon, while unverified links will only display a generic link and the full URL.
Notably, verification is not mandatory. Even if a user prefers not to verify their Facebook link, they can still display it, according to WABetaInfo.
With the new feature, WhatsApp aims to encourage users to connect across Meta’s ecosystem (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), enhancing engagement without mandatory data sharing.
By linking accounts like Instagram and Facebook, the platform aims to make user profiles more transparent, authentic, and trustworthy.
